I am 6' and 104kg.

I have been surfing since i was 10 - although my fitness and time have seen my focus shift to mainly surfing with my 2 boys (9 and 11). We surf through summer and the about every 2nd or 3rd weekend through winter. About as much as the kids sport permits.

I bought a 10' Mctavish - surfs well but I am exhausted after 45min as I am constantly balancing it. I then bought a 10'6*35' board second hand - great fun, stable and with a double concave holds a wave and I can stay out for 2 - 3 hours.

I am keen to get a board that has more stability than the Mctavish but enables me to extend my surfing. Even after a year of the bigger board I still find the Mctavish hard work so I use the 10'6 90% of the time.

I have been looking at the Naish 11'6 Nala but am interesting in any advice I can get.

All comments will be much apreciated.

Failing loosing 25kg which I would love to do - I am keen to get a board that I am stable on and surfs well. The paddle out to my local break (Flinders - Big Left) is torture on the Mctavish (I spend the paddle thinking about not falling off rather than the surf) but better to surf on than the 10'6 which is a handfull above 4' waves. I put this down to the width, 35", so my logic was a bit longer and narrower for my next board.

I am hoping to get as much feedback from all guys arround 100kg and then get out and try a handfull of boards.

i sound like a broken record but the fanatic allwave 9.6 is probably the best all round board for the 100 kg plus surfer. Mine is more stable than my 10 foot mana and is fantastic to surf and paddle. its small enough to throw around but stable as a battleship. go and demo one, theyre perfect for experienced heavier surfers. I spent 6 hours out at avalon point on mine a few weeks ago. As reference im 106 kg and have been surfing for over 30 years.

Coreban EZ 10x34? 10'2 Cabrinha?

Hi,a few have mentioned the Corban EZ10 check out the website.I have just listed one for sale ,10 weeks old its just a bit big for me in the surf ph 0425 269 109 happy to share my experiences just about all good I was 93kgs on purchase of board down to 87at present Daryl

So far a couple of comments on the Naish (I read a worrying blog on a guy who bought a wooden 11'6 and it snapped after a couple of surfs in small surf which makes me think the AST is more the go).

There is little to support my theory that a bit longer (10'6 to 11'6) and thinner (35" to 29") will maintain stability but be better for surfing - maybe I am delusional

but good support for:
- fanatic allwave 9.6 (reads well with design)
- Laguna Bay 10'2 (most encouraging desription of demo day -sounds great)
- Coreban EZ 10x34 (intitial thoughts are that it is a bit close to my existing board)

Just noticed a comment on the Nalu that is very positive - sounds exactly what I was thinking. Now very keen to get on these boards and give them a try.

Sounds like there are a few 100kg old surfers having a lot of fun and getting a few more waves which is great.

All comments and thoughts are fatastic and much apreciated. Especially comments of experience with the boards.

I've def had some of the most fun surfs on the 11'4 Nalu and still do The new 1 should be even better. Worth a try...

+1 Try the 9' 7" PSH Hull Paddler as well
