Im looking for a bigger blokes good wave shape. . . around an 8'8 x 30 at say 125L. Rounded square tail...

There arent many good bigger boards around, most are scaled versions of the smaller boards that the pro's ride. . . taking the design for a 7'7 and stretching it.

I think they need to get someone like Luke Egan who obviously rips, but is over 90kegs . . sorry Luke if Im giving away your beef : ) and make them to suit. . .

At the moment I reckon bigger guys really need to go custom to get what they are after. I.M.O : )

Skebstebamal,

If you are looking for a very good big guys wave board go with the new JP's the 8'10 x 30 is perfect fopr me at 95kg's and the 9'3" x 30 is also very good. I highly recommend these boards as they are not just small boards scaled up they are design as if the only baord in the range. The 8'10" has a perfect squashed sqaure tail thin rails and a very nice oputline with a good rocker line.

Yeah Pete, I liked the dims of the 8'10 Pro and the outline. No one up here is on them so its tough to get a test. 8'8-8'10 is about the length I think for over 6 foot blokes and 95+ kg's.

Yeah, but I still ride a short board and find the length annoying, its like the swing time to get it all the way around....its like slow motion. The difference between say a 9'3 pro-wave and an 8'10 was night and day.

Hey Skebstebamal,

I'm interested in these 2 also. I'm 6'2" & 100kg & can't decide between the 2 sizes. How different are they to surf?

Def prefer the carbon construction too.

Skebstebamal,

I totaly agree with you on the length thing. I too still ride my short boards alot and find going to a 9'3" too much but going to my 8'10" JP it is great. The 8'10" in fact looks like my standard surfboard (6'4" Merrick Flyer) just on steroids. I have found that going from my 8'10" to my short board does not affect my short board surfing but helps, but going from the 9'3" or bigger to my short board always took me about a shesh or too to be dilled back into short board surfing. So I think you are on the money with 8'8" to 8'10" I would not go any wider than 30" though. Its a shame there are no JP's up your way. Also I am 6'3" and weigh in at 95kg's.

Completely different beasts in my opinion. I surfed them back to back. The 8'10 surfed.... You could stroke in bottom turn and go straight back up for a foam climb, the 9'3 I felt like I was watching it (the nose come around) in slow mo...

But! The 9'3 was easy to stand on, the 8'10 was difficult in the 10 knot onshore I was in. In a perfect world I'd run a 8'10 pro wave and maybe an 8'6 allwave for choppy days? But money is an object so that won't be happening

And Rod..... Thanks for very valuable input :)

Hey bro,

its a tough decision.

I personally paddle a 8"0, but in bigger surf would rather the 8"5 as its a bit faster to paddle.

Its hard.

What year models did you try?
The difference between the 8"6 2012 and 8"5 2013 is crazy.
the 8"10's where the same.

wait a few months and the new 2014 will be around.

until then, demo demo demo

no you don't have too. the new nsp is the best sup i've ever surfed. i think its 125l or a touch more. great stability and absolutely rips the bags out of it- no bull****

this coming from someone who usually suffs 8'8, 8'6 x 28 0r less and my last board was a jp 7'4 wide body.

ps i did like the jp, but the alley is such a big paddle and often messy and rippy from the creek mouth run in and out. not enough paddle power there for me. beachies -yep

Laceys lane, can you say which board out of the 7'4 JP and the 9'2 NSP you think is more fun for beach break type waves ?
I'd like to know which is the faster down-the-line board ?
I like the look of the 7'4 but worry it may be a bit slow being so wide...?
Thanks

for me the 7'4 went good in clean point surf. but not a down the line speed machine.

in beachies i found it really good, fast too. quicker turning due to its much shorter lenght as one would expect. the sectional throw up power of beach beaks suit it.

haven't tried the nsp in beachies.

i expect it would be good and most probably be better in a bit of size. a friend was stoked with his in 4 to 5 ft beachies the other day.

to sum up i don't think speed in beach breaks would be a issue with the jp 7'4

Anyone able to post any images of the 2014 Allwave?

Has anyone ridden one and how does it compare to the 2013 model?

I heard that the rails are more refined and has a quad option?? (maybe wrong).

I'm 6'5 and 98 kg and ride an 8'8 x 29" x 4" which comes in at 116L, pin tail for extra drive. I found most boards under 9ft to loose for me. I love it, so good to ride
