Any huge changes with the 2014 boards? e.g. much lighter?
Looking for an extra board for family- flatwater (small chop at times, bay), and surf potential (not likely big waves).
Perhaps something that could double as a surfing SUP for bigger people (60kg Mum, 70kg 6'1" teen, 80kg Dad) and 9 year old (40kg)?
The 9 year old will have to fit in with everyone else.
Our local surf beach has a long walk in, so low weight/ easier carry is good.
Inflatable?
Thanks
Hi Oz. Look around for a second hand SUPatx. They're foam, hand shaped and shouldn't cost more than $400.00. There was a guy up at Scotts head from one of the surf clubs trying to flog off a few. They really are like long boards, 11ft or 12 ft put in a big fin or little fin and have fun. I found it very light to carry. I gave mine to my sister with the Carbon paddle that came with it. She around 60 kg not very fit but loves it. learned how to do a turn in three weeks in small waves. I used to use it with my 25kg daughter at the front. * always beware about not clunking kids on the head if they sit in front of you. I reckon you could Downwind to some extent on the 12 footer. Worth considering. I think there might be a couple of places in Sydney that flog them.
If you've got heaps of money The Naish Nalu would be ideal!![]()
