This is one of my new toys, I have claimed this one for my self. Well will Demo as I have a brushed carbon on order.
As you can see easily fitted with Wind surf mask, & foot straps.
At 105kg I find this board fantastic as a short snappy board. I would have never thought. I could or would ride a board this short (8'10"), but I have taken to this board it is stable, glides well for its length. Have paddled from Mujimba to the Island with no problem, & on the wave so much fun "snap turns & short board manoeuvres just a joy.
Have tried a Quad set up on this board would like to use the Futures Controllers on the board but have found the Starboard Hexcel composite fins work well.
With my small foil fin, find this helps to paddle strait.
I would think the deep concave & volume is what gives it he unexpected glide.
But this makes the board go off for me, centre fin from 170 to 220, as I am heavy I can drive it with all, with out it skipping out.
If you are looking for a Jump up from the wopper or a big boy that whants a short performance board well this board would be a must have
im used to smaller boards, but did get a quick small surf ride on this model.
for the bigger guy, or intermediate its a great board to get you surfing better. plenty of float and catch-a-bility. very loose to turn too.

This board has been on my radar for a while. Bought a 10'5" WP (in carbon) back in December, thought I'd get more regular use out of it over a sub-9' in the conditions I usually see, and it has exceeded my expectations! Best board I have ever ridden.
The plan was to get an 8'10" WP to go along with the 10'5" WP. I'm completely sold on the WP design concept but dropping down a foot and a half and losing volume...
My question still remains for a shorter board for my 6'3" 100 kgs. Will I sink this board so much that the waterline is at my ankles just killing any glide it may have? How is it from "section-to-section" speed-wise?
nice review....good to see some activity in the board reviews ..... i now have 8 surfboards in the family....but i dont have this one :)

Mate I am 105kg, I do not sink the board. "Glide Section to Section". Well yes if you paddle like hell 
& move around on the boad as you can at 32 wide, you will not nose dive the board unless dropping in. It is a short board & thats the feel you get.

Have you compared it to the Hero in terms of wave catchability, glide and stability?

keep in mind I am 105kg. I have a shop rider 90kg, his opinion on the hero differs to mine.
I have taken to the Wide point, but not the Hero, for me the Hero doesn't have the volume for it's shape so when I paddle it snakes around & I can push the nose down there is more of a sweet spot on the wide point, on the wave the hero is nice but but a bit more hard work to get it there. The Whopper is just as nice & glides well for my weight.
I find the Wide point for the ability to catch waves is better: more of a sweet spot, more volume for glide. For a short board feels weird at first but your confidence grows very quickly.
Shop rider commented the Hero has more glide catches waves a bit better, he doesn't move around as much as I do, going for a wave he finds his sweet spot & sticks to it till on the wave.
He likes the Wide point thinks it rips on the wave but you do need bigger fins as it will skittle out on the wave if you do a mid snap on the wave, dose drive well from top to bottom of the wave though.

i weigh 80Kg and im 6"2.
i found the board ample float.
also work with a 6"4 100kg dude and its his fav board this season.
it paddles surprisingly well and surfs even better.
Being from SA we rarely get good bowly waves.
this board seems to rip up bigger fat, flat sectioned surf real well.
was a bit to much foam the day i used it in hollower waves.
Conclusion: good wave allrounder for bigger guys. 90kg+
(surfs better then the hero too).
Not a "section to section" type board, of course! at that length and width.
Real anxious to try this at my local beach break. Sure it would be a great change of pace board from the 10'5". Thanks for the big guy perspective.

if you over 85kg you must try this board. sits in the pocket ,insane cutbacks , floaters it does it all and the surf was small and tide was high. loose is not the word for it , great drive and speed in full swell i can't wait to get mine and get out in 8 - 10 foot surf . if on the sunny coast go see jono at suncoast kitesurfing and ask for a demo you will not regret it

Gregos, Not sure if it is right place to ask if you want to sell your wide point? What construction is it? I have a 8'5" pro I'm too heavy for...........
I HAVE BEEN AT THIS FOR ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND STARTED WITH A 11FT WHICH I JUST SOLD, LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MUCH SHORTER ,I LIKE THE SPEC'S ON THE 9 CONVERSE. INTERESTINGLY THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE MANY STARBOARDS SECOND HAND, IS THERE NOT MANY SOLD OR ARE PEOPLE HOLDING ON TO THEM.LIKE THE LOOK OF THE 8.11 BUT THOUGHT THE 9 MIGHT HAVE THAT LITTLE EX GLIDE.
