Ok i've now done some good miles on the 17ft Naish and this board rocks!!! the difference between the 14 and 17 is quite alot the rocker is less on the 17 and has more board speed in the flat for sure maybe up to 10% more. They are both very stable but i think the 17 is a liitle bit more stable. They both catch runners with ease but nthe 17 glides a lot further and with its better board speed picks them up a bit easier. Once on the runner the 17 will put its nose under a bit if its a step run but unlike other boards that do this the naish seems to cut the water and pop back up nice with out the push back of others. I did 2 9km down wid runs yesterday in 20 to 25 knots and did not fall of once. Once on a good runner its very easy to surf it of the tail and walk around on it. This is a good vid off dave K on the 17

To add to what Jacko said but simplified, the 14' is a friendlier version of the 17'. It still boast great speed on flat water and downwind runs. So for for someone who wants a less technical board the 14' is the ticket.
