Hi All,
Been reading these forums for a while without posting and would like to say thanks for all the info you guys pass on. Apologies if my question has been asked a thousand times before. A workplace neck injury has introduced me to Stand Up as rehab and I am loving it. So, any thoughts on a first 14' board for mostly ocean paddling on the mid north coast, NSW. I am on a pretty tight budget so that needs to be a consideration. Also, has any one got thoughts on the Sunny King 14' Ocean Pro Elite at 29" wide. They offer a package of board, paddle, bag, legie etc. for $1499. I would like to get into racing one day but in all honesty that's probably a fair way off. I am 184cm and 100kg (Doc says I need to drop 10-15). Cheers

Sounds pretty good to me.. If it's all you can afford and it gets you on the water go for it.

One thing to remember is when you save money not buying a big brand board you often loose out with resale value compared to selling a big brand board.

Good luck with the rehab.. and welcome to the breeze..

btw.. I have the new 14'x29'' Glide on order in the GS construction for about two hundred more so that's worth considering.. and just use the paddle you're using now.. Then get a really good paddle down the track when you get into racing... Just a thought..

Thanks DJ. I didn't realise you could pick up the new Glide for that sort of money. After viewing the clips and reading the recent posts on them it doesn't seem like you could go wrong; I will certainly give it some thought. I guess it makes sense not only for resale but also I wouldn't have to upgrade for a long time. I will present your very sound and relevant logic to The Accountant......... when I can catch her in a good mood.

IMO the Sunny King boards are underrated, they go nicely, the price point is good and Nick won't steer you wrong. But as DJ says the bigger names will be more attractive at resale, depends if that matters to you. You could also keep an eye on the buy and sell section too for a good pre-loved board, new season's models are arriving and people will be turning boards over...usually something decent for your size and price range comes up on there.

Thanks HC and thankyou Air80 for the cool vid, how clears that water. I guess its all relative; pay less, get less back is fair enough. Probably more concerned with out growing a board to quickly which is why DJ got me thinking.

Having said that, it seems that the Sunny Kings might not be to bad at all. Has anybody seen someone race a Sunny King? It would be interesting to know how they perform with a decent paddler on board.

In the mean time I will keep my eyes on the buy and sell, or happy to hear from anyone that may not have listed a board yet.
