had the chance to paddle the 12'6 bullet today. i paddled from roar up to the ck mouth. yeah its no flat water speed monster- we all know that
getting into the wave zone the board comes to life. easy to paddled over/through waves with no grabbing and no real speed lost. i turn around and catch a wave. very smooth, no fuss and very responsive. when the wave turned in to bumps it rode them easy and played the part.
next i paddle out through the wave zone and across the alley rocks to check out how it goes in the backwash. no problems and actually paddles up wind surprising well for a no piercing type nose.
i turned around and dw paddled it for three hundred metres. gets bumps nicely and has that famous 'sic' feel when dropping onto them which i found very pleasing as i own and love 17'4 bullet.
i turn around again and paddle back up the point. i miss the wave i want and have my back to a half broken wave behind as i'm facing the shore. i'm bracing myself for a big push that will probably have me in the water. the 12'6 bullet handled it with no fuss and i'm away surfing doing tiny turns. no pearling or reverse turning here, it just handled like a surfing sup.
in summary there are better all round 12'6 s around, but if the waves and ocean is your thing this is easily the best surfing 12'6 i've been on
i'm not one for people learning to dw on a 12'6, but this board is different. dw ing this board with a bit of wind and chop is going to be soooooooo much fun and i believe in a 'blow' you wouldn't lose anything to those slick super narrow boards. this board has dw pedigree written all over it.
very impressed with this board, but then you expect that from sic
cheers
ps i even rang 62 mac and said order one ![]()
And I was in the car with 62mac when the phone call arrived! I actually answered the phone, and said "Hi Lacey, it's Simondo from Seabreeze", and Lacey couldn't figure out what was going on!
Can't blame him, he expected Mac to answer, and we were playing funny buggers!
Sounds like a great board though... I can't work out which SIC I need first... Bullet 12'6, 14 or 17'4 !
He's a bit slow on the up take Simondo ![]()
