Just received my Slingshot Hover glide H4 (yes, a bit heavier but happy to save the significant $$$ with my first one).

Quality looks very good but absolutely shocking they don't inlcude the screws to attach foil to the actual board.
Such minimal extra dollars to include but now Im left to source myself (Seriously Slingshot!? So poor.) Instructions state attachement screws only included with Slignsot foil BOARD (not foil)...baffling.

You can get the screws from slingshot (only $10, so, again, baffling why such a critical item is not included with a $1300+ item) BUT does not include the little base plates that go in the tracks.

Anyone know where one would source the screws AND little base plates to mount foil to board?
- as per website: "Size is M8 x 25mm, Stainless Steel Tapered Phillips Head."

One other first timer question:
Pack includes teflon tape and recommends putting lanolin on before the tape (before assembly). From sebreeze blogs, just tef gel periodically seems to be the go?

Thanks all.

Yes they should supply them but not all boards and boxes are the same. You are chasing M8 T-Nuts and counter sunk bolts. Order direct from Slingshot or go into any kite / wind shop for the T- nuts and any nut and bolt shop for you bolts, buy a couple of different lengths in case you have to pack the rear of the plate to get level with the deck to offset tail rocker. You want 25 & 30mm bolts plus buy spares you will loose one or two guaranteed.

100% use the tape or an anti seize and take apart every couple of weeks and always give a good wash . It's also very easy to put it together wrong so look at a picture putting it together . Make sure you mount the mast behind the H4 wing and not in it, rear wing faces up on top of fuselage .

Always a wealth of information piros. Thanks. Have requested a 5mm and 10mm angled gasket from seabreeze member...as u recommend.

Is teflon tape AND tef gel worth all the fluffing about? Or is tef gel alone suitable....as long as you clean and re-tefgel reasonably regularly?

Yeah tef gel or any anti seize is fine on its own .

Many thanks. Slingshot responded. Their apologises but reinforced attachment screws/bolts not included with foil.

They provided a link to buy from them. $45 (on sale) just for the 4 bolts. They need to get off the crack pipe. I'll try and source from a windsurf shop as u suggest.

Was very impressed with the hover glide unboxing....but to get the thing attached to the board has been a deflating experience....

Thanks again for being there for all us learners....

Pretty sure they include them with their boards since not all boards and boxes are the same

Just look at companies selling screws/bolt etc on the internet. Google "stainless screws australia" for instance...I bought spares in all sizes for my foil this way. You will need them. And they are so cheap.Chose the A4 stainless, not the A2 (it will rust with seawater). And if possible, with some titanium, but it is harder to find.

A2 is 304 grade & A4 is 316 grade that's what you want . A quick test is a magnet will stick to 304 but not 316

My SS foil collection is slowly mulitplying - H5 and H2 wings..
Having too much fun windfoiling currently but will hopefully get into to downwinding some time soon.

Agree that track mounting hardware should come with surf foil package sets....

Hey Baldy try that H5 on the shorter fuselage behind the boat it rips. The Slingshot crew are out on that set up right now towing in on the swell that just popped up here yesterday...

Correction, magnet doesn't stick to 304. It sticks to 400 series stainless.

True, very hard to tell 304 and 316 apart unless labelled or stamped. 316 is known as 'marine grade' in the industry, i have had a lot to do with it as a boilermaker. Just for interest when not using in a marine environment and used for anti corrosive measures we would always mix grades for nuts and bolts eg a 304 bolt to a 316 nut. We found this would help with the metals not binding as often. We always used anti seize tho too

Places seem to offer either brass or the stainless steel T-nut option......some say makes no differeence, some say brass minimises corrosion/fuzing together......THOUGHTS?

....Geez I wish they just came with the foil.....

I'd go stainless and use this stuff on the thread, don't need much just a smear on one side of the thread at the top of the bolt, if it starts to get tight and hot then back of ASAP!
