Can anyone tell me what is a pacer like to sail compared to a sparrow? I learned to sail in a sparrow, so I know what those are like and they would suit my kids learning, etc. There's one for sale down here.

I gather that Pacers are now highly recommended. What are they like compared to a Sparrow?

Sparrows were used for youth sail training in some VIC clubs up until about 10 years ago. Pacers were what replaced them. The pacer is a little wider and lighter and about half a metre longer. Biggest difference I think is the pacer will be a bit more lively and more likely to plane. Nothing wrong with a sparrow but a pacer will be more fun for longer with our kids.
