Hi, any leads on where to find a replacement exhaust elbow for a YSM8? Mine has reached end of usefulness.
Have tried Minards in Newcastle - awaiting reply. Thanks, Josh - Marieholm 26 Sydney Harbour

Luke from Minards provides an excellent service and reasonably priced, @ 10 off. I buy all my YSB 8hp parts from them and my elbow manifold corroded the same and started to leak on the exhaust manifold area, after many decades service. My set up had an extended riser that I purchased a replacement from Reece plumbing, 40mm x 6'', threaded galv piece, as a sacrificial part. This reduced the overall cost if you need a riser.
Cheers

however I am strongly suggesting to get a new one on eBay from USA made of stainless steel. It will last longer. Good luck

Thanks Serb, I had a look and their range is limited and a bit pricey, once you convert to the Aussie dollar and pay freight.
A friend of mine had a complete exhaust manifold made in stainless by a local country engineering shop for $400.
A very good price for the workmanship, I guess he got lucky, normally something like this would be pricey in a City market.
Cheers
Ohh.... How is your recent, reconditioned engine going?
Hey Josh- Is your M26 one of those in Woodford Bay?
I think Josh has gone AWOL..... He hasn't bothered replying to our input to his question...??

Hello, sorry, don't check the site as often as some!
Thanks for the advice. The gumtree advert from r13 was best option.
Yes, M26 in Woodford Bay.

Hi Jdol
I hope you have had some success with your hunt for a new exhaust manifold.
I would like to point out that the rust/corrosion/deterioration of you manifold is abnormal.
This would indicate a consistent cooling water leak onto the manifold.
You want to ensure that your new unit is leak free and hopefully the corrosion has not affected the head.
Here is a photo of my spare manifold and water injection elbow.
This unit is at least 30 years old and shows how a dry unit should look.
Will add a photo of my fitted unit when I get down to the boat.

Hi buddy,
just saw you message. Engine is working like a new. Quite and strong. On 25th of November my Tasman is going out for antifouling and top painting. Right now boat is pushing 5knots because is dirty as jungle but once cleaned and painted it will go 6.5knots, very impressive indeed..
did you fixed your issue with a mixing elbow ?

Hi Serb,
That is great news, it will like a new boat once you paint the top sides..
I had already replaced my mixing elbow some months ago, but its always handy to know of an after market supplier of parts.
I have found if you can find a used engine, buy it for used parts and a backup.
Cheers

Hi there,
yse8 are noisy as hell. What you can do is to put a bit ticker oil in and that will reduce clearance. Try gulf western sae 40 mineral oil and try to make some sort of a noise cancellation tube. An empty can of lithium grease and some sponge inside should be attached to your air intake and that will significantly reduce the noise l. Of course make few holes on the can and make sure that airflow is not effected. Ticker the oil less clearance and therefore less noises.
