Was going to North Sails today at Mona Vale with which WM shares a car park. This is an Australian company that Marinises Kubota engines.
I popped into the workshop on the off chance that they could supply me with an anode for my old Bukh motor which they did.
Mr Whichard was assembling a 20 horsepower motor which look beautiful and was a Kubota with his own heat exchanger and other ancillaries. Had a good chat. Australian guy so might be good to support him when the time comes.
Yes Witchard do all the Kubota marinising here in Aust so that's a real bonus. And their heat exchanger and other ancillaries tech details look top shelf. Just give John a call and ask him for a price.

That's interesting to know... What is the price of a 20 hp with their heat exchanger?
Cheers
Not sure but a 28hp is $11,000+GST. Annoys me when people quote without GST but there you are.

Thanks Mate gives me an idea..A reasonable price for an engine that size...
Cheers...
For what it's worth, take a good look at the other offerings out there that use the same base motor and it soon becomes apparent why John's offerings are a little dearer, but IMHO a lot better. ![]()
Hi everyone, I'm a bit of an introvert but will do a another post to introduce myself at a later date.
I have a WM Witchard 50HP aux engine and it is bullet proof. John's heat exchangers are top shelf and are a piece of art within themselves.
His service is fantastic from getting parts out to you the next day, to answering help questions even when there is no money involved. It's hard to put into words but it feels like a family more than dealing with an everyday company. Definitely highly recommend to anyone wanting to re-power.
Oh and parts are reasonably priced being a Kubota..
I called John for help to replace my YSE8 before I went to rebuild it and Mr John was a very nice and respectful person to talk to. What I understood is that he is using the same Kubota block based engines, just like Nanni and Beta but he is cheaper and probably knows what he is doing. When I asked Beta to bring 3 different propellers for beta 14 on my boat they where shocked. In Europe that is the standard procedure. John was ok with that. To me Mr John is the way to go rather than Beta or Nanni. This is just my opinion but is based on my true experience.
