Bought a Bosch 70 amp 14 volt Holden alternator and modified it to suit. mainly the bottom alternator mount reduced the boss width maybe 6 mm and also drilled out the boss mount hole to suit the Bukh mounting bolt

Hi Spongblob hows the Hood going old mate?Didnt get a lot down at the boat got there late fitted the Alternator needs a new belt. Finished off the stardboard battery box so tomorrow Ill transfer the house and engine batteries over . Probably not necessary but wanted to have the engine battery as close as I could to the starter motor and Isolator panel
Heres tonight effort a half made engine loom and a half finished Isolator panel lots to tidy up yet

Wire training and more to do . Did want to fit it tomorrow but its 3.30 am I'm stuffed. And its not a great Idea doing wiring when your a bit tired I tend to get careless. But I guess you alway revisit a project like this any way. The touch switch panel for my LEDs runs a ribbon lead . Today at the boat I fitted a wood panel inside where the start board battery will be it has my charge relay and switch box for the touch pad . I sort have got tired and didn't fit my gage light switch which fits in the engine panel so it still has a empty hole there and I also need to run the switch wires to the gages but Ill get to it eventually
The port side panel is ready for my solar charger and Ive fitted a fuse panel to it and trial fitted it to the boat all good there.

The three wires hanging out the bottom are for my Radio and USB charge they go forward once the panel is in position .
There 5 amp fused on the fuse panel plus they have there own inline fuse as well. I have labels from the old yacht panel I put them away some where cant find them yet but they will show up eventually. I have to label the fuse panel also before I fit it up
Ill print a sheet out and glue it to the inside of the fuse box lid laminated . Im off to bed want to get up in a few hours and back to the boat its a reasonable clam day today I hope my Dingy was surfing to day coming back from the boat and bloody wet getting there want to put the cushions back on board but it was to wet Ill try again today

Donk When I first bought the boat you just bought yours. I was a little embarrassed as my boat was not any nearly as good a condition as yours.So Ive had to do some extra work to it . I'm trying to make a it a comfortable live board when Im finished.
Ive got a about three years before I retire. So want to do as much now as possible so its all done for the next ten years less normal maintenance

That engine is 3200 horse power it should clean up Ciscos Kubota I think
Today I ran all the speaker wires around the hull and wired up the VHF and sterio did a quick conect to the barry to see how it all went nice having music while you work

I had trouble finding a ribbon cable Id put away for the touch pad switch thats used for the led lighting so I stopped doing the engine panel today. Had a brain storm a couple of hours ago and remember where I put it so its in the car for the morning .
I want to test all the circuits before I mount the panel in position
also got my USB charger going so I can power my phone its nearly runs flat by the time I leave the boat playing music all day
Once I run all the wiring Ill buy some of that cable trunking that Mad mission suggested . Ill be glad to get back to work so I can rest up

Well I just bought some teak shutters which will be converted into cabinet doors and a Donk sail master 845 forward cabin door

Personally i would be happy to replace my forward cabin door with a curtain because if you are using the heads or pulling a sailbag out of the starboard side it is a pain as it gets in the way

Whenever i go for a sail the headsail (i have 3) i decided to put on always seems to be the one behind the door

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon wandering around the marina at Kettering and ended up spending some time talking to a nice bloke who lives aboard his Walker H28 Ketch that was made in 1979 and he has owned it since it was 6 years old

He said he spent a year cruising the pacific on it and had nothing but good things to say about it

It was a bit different to yours (i think) as the rudder shaft went through the back of the cockpit floor

I mentioned this to him and also that i had seen Sailmasters with spade rudders like mine and also transom hung ones and he said that Khan Walker was a bit of a fiddler and sometimes tried variations on his designs

The stove project will be a slow one. I want to polish some brass parts a need to order a couple of items few things I also want to complete the electrical system before I move to far forward with the stove

I was luck enough to find a new /second hand Taylor 030 pariffin (kero ) stove It have been sitting ina container for a long time and real need some elbow grease . Ive stripped it down and assembled it after giving it a clean I will dissemble it once more later on and throughly clean it and then fit it to the boat .I left the burners out for now as I need the size to make the cabinet the top on the Walker once you remove the laminex on top is held in buy silicon and a screws.
Hers the stove at the moment the white tank was a silvery grey color with scratched so I bead blasted it and two pack the tank
also had the retaining brackets painted black hope it will look ok when its all together

Well last weekend I...

-Lubricated my fuel tank cut off tap. It was well seized. Sprayed inox into it and a little bit of manual persuasion to get it moving. I then had to work it back and forth for a few minutes to loosen it up and get full rotations.
-Replaced cracked water intake pipes for the engine. I used red multipurpose pipe from engine to water strainer and reinforced pvc from filter to seacock. Two stainless steel hose clamps on each join.
-Had to unjam a corroded brass wing nut on the water strainer. I don’t see how it could of been done without completely removing the filter and bopping it with a hammer. Bolt was free spinning within strainer. Wanted to beat the designer of the strainer with a hammer too. Previous owner paid $45 dollars too much for that piece of Whitworths crap.
-Bought Velcro from spotlight to attach my boat carpet too the floor, it's been slipping and sliding around. At $15 a meter, surprisingly expensive.
-Whilst I replaced my water pipes, I intentionally flooded my bilge and gave all my bilge pumps a run, including testing the auto float bilge, working fine and now permanently on.

I'd recommend checking/operating fuel taps and stainer basket nuts once a month to prevent jamming.

Yes that velcro is expensive but works really well its made in USA I bought some a while ago

Painted masts look great until someone leaves a halyard or topper clipped to the base and they strip off the paint slapping the mast. I've never seen a painted alloy spar that din't bubble off the paint where the holes are drilled for the fittings.

I think you have made the right call. Enjoy the feeling of having a known robust rig the next time your are out in a good breeze. The rest of us are reefing early and looking skyward with some doubt!
