I'm looking for help locating a 5/16 x 3/4 x 1/4 inch shaft lip seal for the pump on my Jabsco dunny. WW's used to sell a pump refurb kit for about $40, but now you have to pay around $100 for a complete kit with the lot. At that price I might as well wait for the next complete new dunny special deal.

I did source one of these seals some years ago from a place in Sydney but have forgotten the details. I've tried the big bearing suppliers but they don't stock this rather oddball size. Friggin' yanks and their crap imperial stuff.

Try "the bearing man east" they're in Stephens Rd Banksmeadow 96666499, got some imperial lip seals from him for my prop shaft log, had to order them in. Took 1-2 days.

As I recall, Graeme, you are in Victoria. For odd size (imperial) seals, I would try an hydraulic repair firm. We use Hydrautech in Ballarat, and they are brilliant. They have often fixed old pre-metric machinery for us.

Bill at the Bearing Man was very helpful, especially given the tiny order value. I do wonder how I'd go in his position when some dill calls up and I have to chase around for the grand order value of about $20, as well as post it out. I doubt I'd be as polite as Bill, so a big plug for him.

Now I have enough pump shaft seals to see me out until the grim reaper deems my sailing days are over.

Cheers, Graeme
