Hi all
I'm more involved in the kitesurfing section so this my first post here.
In the mid 1980's my dad owned the moulds for the Spacesailer 20 yacht and he modified them to include a drop keel.
Previously they had come in a fixed or swing keel.
They were out of a factory in Gnagara and in total about 5 were made and raced out of the Whitfords Sea Sports Club.
Out of interest, I was wondering if anyone owns the drop keel version and wouldn't mind posting pictures of them.
Dad's one was sky blue in colour and was called Force Five.
Thanks

John Crawford's library of trailer sailers has an entry for a Spacesailer 20 here www.johncrawfordmarine.com.au/space-sailer-20 but the only documents there refer to the fixed keel version. Simon Carter sails a Noelex 30. It's a drop keel.
DM
previous to his nx30 and imho his greatest passages were done in ss20 which i think he still has and last year took on trip around oz
The Spacesailor 20s had a pretty active association and fleet in the late 70s/early 80s. (My Dad was Measurer for a few years). They had State Championships each year for a while sailed mostly from Fremantle Sailing Club over a weekend where other Trailer Sailer classes like Sorcerers, MB21s & 24s all had their own State Champs.
I recall the drop keel versions joining the fleet in about 1984 or 85. One was called "FrogShip" from Whitfords Sea Sports Club and was particularly well sailed with a very aggressive helm who had stripped it out inside in an attempt to win..Great little boats, really seaworthy and competitive in a breeze verses the longer Sorcerer and MB21s. Great days.

That guy had some pretty good ideas which inspired me and with the few alterations I incorporated in my trailer sailer.
