I am looking at selling my current 26 footer and want to sell it with the current mooring. The current mooring is in a high demand area and I have heard there is a wait list of roughly 10 people for moorings at this location.
Does anyone know if I am able to sell the mooring or pass the mooring onto the new owner of the boat? I thinking selling the boat and mooring together will be my only option to sell the boat.

If it's Sydney Harbour or Pittwater and there's a wait list them it's a definite no... ![]()
Edit: Actually I shouldn't say it's a definite No, just extremely unlikely.

In NSW the new owner can go on the wait list and you hand the boat over when they get to the top of the list. I've done it twice, when buying and selling. You need a sympathetic Boating Services Officer, I've been lucky on the 2nd occasion he was ex Navy and so was I.
The next person on the list can buy your mooring apparatus, which is the easiest for all party's, if they want a new one then someone else may want it otherwise by law your supposed to remove it. But as far as the spot is concerned it goes to the next on the list

A number of years ago I bought a Top Hat from a couple of pleasantly shady old blokes, one of whom was a Solicitor (well retired). The boat was on a mooring in Berry's Bay (@ 50 moorings and wait list of 90+). The previous owners held the mooring in trust with the (next) previous owner who had passed away a decade earlier. I enjoyed the mooring and location for about 6 months and when it was time to relocate I just slipped off and sailed out of the harbour.
I had a similar issue with taking over a pen in high demand. With subsequent purchases I included a clause that the seller would use "best endeavours" to tranfer the pen. Perhaps you could offer this for transferring the mooring.
