In an earlier post www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Sailing/General/TS-1000-blues?page=1#20 ) I fixed the damage to the fitting on the drive screw shaft and guide rods on my ST 1000.
After reassembly it ran, but was still noisy. So, I took it apart again and found damage to the bearing housing on the inward stroke end.
This allows the whole screw shaft, bearing and pulley to move inward into the gearbox.
Luckily I watched this blokes unsuccessful attempt at a repair before I tackled mine.
Hi Gary;
Luckily I got to mine before the plastic bearing housing had completely fallen apart. Here are a couple of pics of the aluminium reinforcement I added.
Cheers, Graeme

Good solid repair Gramae
I am at version 5 on my limit switch job.
Is there any chance that you have photos of your solution?
It would save me inventing the wheel again.

Have a search through Trailersailerplace. There's a mod on there for the limiter switches. I could be wrong but I think the user was Zeb?
Thanks Slammin
I have read the Trailersailerplace info and filed it away along with every little titbit I could find.
