Was a bit of a blow last night, 35 gusting 40 + knots north west. One centreboard fibreglass yacht turned Turkey near the beach in Camerons Bight with the mooring chain wrapped around the hull!

So, it's not a whale?
It was a huge front with medium-heavy rain on the radar all the way from Adelaide to here

I'm wondering why a good boat capsized.. Maybe it took on water through a forward hatch or something simmilar

Yes ouch! Looks like the board is up but maybe it doesn't lock down. Must investigate that on mine.

That's clearly very unfortunate hope a recovery of sorts can be achieved. Mooring and anchor ropes and chains can sometimes get led to around the wrong side of the keel or end of the still exposed beneath the hull swing cboard. Have had this happen a couple of times over ~45yrs with zero wind and changing tide heights and tidal current flows with fixed keel yachts. If by chance this occurs before the onset of a gale then the result can be as evidenced.
