Am I the only one who has ratlines on there boat??

Why have they disappeared from most yachts these days??

I installed them when I stepped the mast & love having them.

It makes it very easy to hook on the main halyard, pack the sail away & do up the zipper, also an easy way to work on things on the lower spreaders (light, camera) etc etc & starts me off to climb the mast!!
It also doubles as entertainment for the kids & adults - I have even been known to have a dive!!

On another site there was a discussion about granny frames.
One blokes suggested ratlines as a way to keep you in board, so I tried it.
All of my at mast work is on the starboard side. so I rigged a line just below my bum, just above and about shoulder height as a test.
Works great. As usual the test rig will stay until it falls apart.

They disappeared because yachts rarely have twin lowers these days.
