I haven't been able to find a similar - centre cockpit, under 30K - yacht closer to me in Brisbane.
I know it's about of a "how long is a piece of string" question, but are there any rough estimates on the cost of delivery Nowra to Brisbane and how I'd go about finding a delivery skipper?
Not sure of delivery costs. I have often admired this vessel on her mooring as i have passed her. Seems well equiped, cared for and nice order. The Yanmar QM 20s and 30s are solid long lasting diesels if cared for.
Looks to be a very good buy, obviously subject to visual inspection and some level of survey.
If I had the time I'd take her to Queensland but I doubt I could spare the few weeks needed. I'm past sailing into strong winds so would want to wait for the weather window for each leg.
I knew the previous owner, the boat was moored very close to mine, it has indeed been to FNQ and TAS, he said he had put 10,000 NM on it and he looked after it very well. I would say you have a good buy there.

i'm just about to do a delivery fm port stephens to iluka on a 39' ketch for $1500 + expenses. figure max 5 days
nowra to brisbane is more than twice the dist (500' v 212'). figure 10-12 days.
if dates are negotiable / workable, and boat is acceptable, i'd do it for say $3500 + expenses.
message me if interested

I'm looking at a 1982 Duncanson 34 to get from Brisbane to Port Hacking. Would this be similar price?
I've seen comments on another thread recommending shipping as a good alternative. Does anyone know of a freight company used to transporting yachts? I'm also wondering if my 34 Duncanson, 6tnne, 6ft draft, 3.2m beam is too big for the road? I suspect so?

This is 22' long, 3' draft, 3 tonnes, 7' beam to give you and idea on the truck. Looked almost silly on there. Mandurah to Rockingham...not far.
I shipped my manitou 32 back from Brisbane as I ran out of time for a weather window last year, , total cost including dropping mast and load ,unload was 6k (masts are still off lol ) it would have cost me that to leave it there till this sailing season. I feel I'm not going to have masts refurbished and have her back to sailing untill the following year ( covid has made us really busy at work , go figure and at my age I will take the money and go next year for longer ??) you may have to drop the stantions and pullpit etc to get the height. Mine draws 5 ft and was ok . I could put masts on top of boat , otherwise they load them underneath. Good time for mast inspection , rewire , replace the anchor light at the top etc ,maybe a rerig if needed.

There's much better boats available than that Dunc in Brisbane. None of my business....just saying.
Re road transporting a boat of that size...it will cost a fortune. You will need a crane and rigger both ends to remove and replace the mast. There's a couple of thousand+ already.
Travelift each end to take the boat out of the water, put it on the truck and then back in the water.
Plus the road transport is not cheap. There are dedicated boat haulage companies. 6ish years ago I used Allboat Transport to move my 26ft Folkboat from Sydney to Brisbane. Incidentally, I was very satisfied. As the boat had damage to the deck, sailing it home was not an option. From my rapidly diminishing memory, I think it was about 2K for a 26ft boat. As the boat you're looking at is over 8ft wide, there will be extra charges payable for its wide-load status. Air height will be a factor as well.
If the boat you buy is seaworthy and well found, have someone deliver it by sea. Personally, after experience buying boats remotely, I am a firm believer in just waiting for the right boat to come up locally. Trust me! You'll save yourself angst and money.
Hope this helps

Isn't she pretty, though!!!
BigSkip, now is the perfect time of year to plan that delivery. Going by sea will be about 1/3 of the cost of road transport I'd guess. I've just completed a delivery of a Top Hat 25 Brisbane to the Camden Haven on Thursday, delivering yachts of that size up and down this coastline is what I love doing, I've spent all my brownie points so couldn't help anytime soon.
How much coastal sailing experience do you have?
is this your boat? yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/duncanson-34/246219

Yep that's the one. I particularly like the new engine, so many boats I've been looking at have ageing engines that could easily cause a lot of problems. I have very little coastal sailing experience, would crew for a skipper but not feel smart taking a new boat down myself.
Bad time to buy a boat right now it seems.

I wonder which Brissie boats you like the look of?
Quote for transport $4k plus $2-$3k rigging. I think with airfares and diesel etc delivery by water prob $5k I suspect.
not much on the market in Sydney.
What are your needs?
What do you want to do with the boat? Race, cruise etc?
How many people will be on board?
Experience?
Budget????
