Any recommendations for cruising guides for New Caledonia?
The online guide cruising-newcaledonia.com pops up a lot and looks decent (but I've yet to purchase it).
Hoping to sail over this July.
I have a CD with New Cal & Vanuatu cruising guides, CMap 4 with install notes, Global Nav Pal Pro Demo, Raster Charts Aus East coast, Alan Lucas and Mick Calder cruising guides, various nautical programs and music albums, yours for the asking.
PM with mailing address.

Yeah, I used that when I was over there a few years back. Well worth having. There was another paperback guide which went out of print years ago. It's a nice place with plenty of anchorages. I'm surprised a lot more Aussies don't do the trip over. Usually less than week on a good run with only a couple of sea mounts to avoid if the sea is rough. We used Bob McDavitt to pick a weather window for us ( just so we had some one to blame if this went pear shaped, joking). If the weather turns to crap you can always hole up in the Bay of Prony and do day hikes through the convict settlement and other tracks. We cleared customs at the Gold Coast to get a better angle. Not sure where your based.

Arriba is currently at Shellharbour, but we're planning on sailing up to Southport before turning for New Caledonia (mostly so I can pick up last-minute crew). Coming back we may head straight for Sydney, possibly taking a break at Middleton Reef.
Always chuck the anchor out when you drag the dinghy up the beach when stopping at out of the water places! I will never forget seeing my dad swim after the dinghy. He couldn't catch it. Might have been Middleton reef, it was on the way to New Caledonia.
Don't leave a radio next to the compass either, dad chased me around the boat for days after that. This was before GPS. I will also never forget dad getting the sextant out and saying to me " do you know how to use one of these" ? " No" I said. " Neither do I you little prick"
