I am considering adding a floor covering in the cabin of my boat. Has anyone done it recently? I guess carpet is generally used. Is there a marine grade? What have you used? Are there other flooring materials you have used?

Yes Bundy.....Whitworths have marine grade carpet, it's a tough bristly texture. Mines stripy black and blue.

With a wood floor you can clean up the sand and whatever with a small broom and dust pan.
With carpet , you need a good vacuum cleaner.

I have a roll out rug that I put on the (ugly) floor in winter.
Roll it up and store at home the rest of the year.
It is not marine grade.

Marine grade means you pay three times as much for it, that's all marine grade means.

My marine grade carpet collected every stray scraping sanding seaweedy speck. I scored some not distasteful vinyl end-of-a-roll which is soft enough under foot and is easily cleaned and mopped. You may not need to glue t down if it is sufficiently heavy or secured with beading.
If you paid enough you could get some suitably shippy wood look vinyl or something retro - burnt orange and avocado swirls....?

Bunnings also sell marine grade carpet by the m.

Great advice from all of you.
I will let you know which way I proceed.
