Good on 'em, a new wind speed and direction indicator has put in after consultation with local boaties. The location is Hope Banks, which is the infamous mark that caused the rule change for roundings to give at least 20mtrs clearance. This is after some numpty ran over it and caused a + $100 000 repair bill.
The Spitfire channel beacon also got an upgrade.

A NEW device to measure wind speed and direction is set to make Moreton Bay safer for Redlands boaties. The new Hope Banks anemometer - a device which measures wind speed and direction - was installed late last week.It will provide information on winds in the eastern bay, closing a longstanding gap in information between the existing Banana Bank station, between Coochiemudlo and Peel islands, and the Inner Beacon weather station, off southern Moreton Island. It is one of two new observing systems installed in Moreton Bay in recent months, after the Bureau replaced a wind monitor in the Spitfire Channel, in the bay's far north, with a brand new unit.

Got round it on Sunday without incident. A previous owner did hit it, some time ago and well before the weather station was installed, leaving a dent in the toe rail and a bent stanchion.

Yep, RQYS Wednesday Sailing, statistically the most dangerous sailing event in Australia both in terms of sinkings and related deaths.
Although they have not had a sinking for a few years.
but a written off boat just recently.
Also results in more Col Reg prosecutions than anywhere else in Qld.
