Long time Navionics user, however as I'm not sailing much further than my local LGA, so I've let my subscription expire. I've noticed a distinct drop off in GPS refreshing, the speed is more often not working and direction tracker not functioning. Not sure if this is coincidental with a recent phone replacement (iPhone 11) or I'm wondering if Navionics detune some features when subscription expires.
Has anyone had similar experiences? It's so bad that I would be annoyed if I pay the subscription and had the same poor performance.
I can't find any such information on Navionics website or searching elsewhere. Phones GPS seems to work just fine with any other app that uses the GPS.
Hi Cabron, I let my subscription expire a couple of years back. If I go somewhere new, I check and compare it to my Open CPN chart which is up to date on the laptop. I do have a slow acquisition of the satellites when I first turn it on though, but everything else is ok. That would be a real minefield for them if they were to do that without explicitly declaring it to the user. But I'm pretty sure my slow satellite acquisition is the Raymarine Axiom MFD. I'm on my third replacement unit under warranty, it was originally an A-series unit. That one used to get the satellites almost immediately, and both Axiom replacements have been really tardy in that respect. I suspect they've put cheaper electronic components in them and they're quite happy for us to speed it up by buying one of their separate gps units.
What plotter/device and model are you running it on?

Hi 2bish, sorry for confusion, I meant Navionics purely on App version on Iphone. I just downloaded a GPS Status checker for phone, and accuracy is working fine.
When using the app, the first 5-10minutes it works as per usual, however after that it gets slower and slower for updates of GPS. I reboot the phone, switch Location services on/off, and reboot app....same poor response on speed/location on Navionic app.
