Does anybody know what these boats are like? I'm looking for an easy-to-use day-trailer sailor to introduce people to sailing.
I thought the Marlow Hunters 22 has quite a big cockpit. Extremely simple rig, with a light ATM trailer weight. I want the flexibility to be able to teach in various locations so must be a trailer sailor. I currently own a Catalina Expo 14.2 sailing dingy. Fantastic little sailboat, very stable on the water with a carbon mast and a sail that furls around it if need be. I want to add a 2nd larger boat to accommodate for older or insecure people, but must be as easy to sail as my little Catalina Expo. The Catalina 22 is also a nice boat but the huge cockpit and cheaper price of the Hunter looks very attractive.

Suggest you post this on trailersailerplace

I've never owned or sailed one but they have had good reviews. But the price? Are there any for sale in Aust? There are numerous other similar second hand tsers designed and built here which would suit your brief at far lower cost. eg Castle 650, Sonata 6.7. For the latter I would not touch any with runners they are a right pain. I don't know how many S6.7 lift keelers were built with a no runner swept spreader rig though.

Thanks will do. There is one in Hobart on Gumtree. Near new presentation for $15,000.00 including registered trailer
Just working out the logistics to get it to the mainland.
Cheers.

Looks very good - was expecting a lot higher price than that.

There is this Hunter 20 for sale in Queensland. This is a revised version of the Red Fox 20 twin keel boat that people raved about when it first came out in Britain.

Yeah, saw that one, the Hunter 22 appears to be a much larger boat in volume which in my opinion makes for a very stable and docile boat. I don't think they would be as competitive in a race around the buoys like a lot of sports boats in their class but I think ideal for first time wannabe sailors .
