Hi people sorry if im spamming the board.

I'm looking to learn to sail small dinghies etc and work my way up to something larger.
Dont mind starting on larger boats as this is what i want to sail in first.

I do already go out on the water quite a lot and am comfortable offshore, however it's more boating and jetskis.
So clearly I have no idea about the finer art of sailing.

I live in victoria australia. 38 / m
However I currently work overseas working a long time on, long time off roster.
So I couldn't attend courses one night a week.

Im finding it difficult to find someone or a club willing to work with this etc.
Am I looking at this wrong in that I have to fit into the 9-5 to learn to sail,
Should I just buy my own and teach myself.
Or is there anyone out there willing to teach / go sailing with. Im perfectly happy to slave and learn.

Thanks

Regards PDU

Sailing schools are ideal because you can quickly learn the basics plus the necessary safety drills on the water. But if sailing schools are not an option, maybe get in touch with a RAID group in your local area. They will probably be very helpful in finding you a boat and you could sail & learn with them on a casual basis. RAID groups can often be found on facebook.

(just as an example): Dinghy Cruising Australia
