In my previous post, I asked for some advice about how to get the data from the C-MAP Genesis community. (Note, I'm after the bathymetric data, not the charts or images).
As I have a very simple Hook2 fish finder, I thought I would try plugging in the numbers into the "chart plotter" field. This allowed me to download something, but it is in *.at5 format, which could be a Lowrance bespoke format, and I have not managed to decode it. I also suspect it is only waypoint or vector data, which is not what I'm looking for.
Would anyone here with a proper plotter (something that renders charts on screen) be willing to download the C-MAP or Navionics data for the Wilsons River, using your chart plotter make and serial number, and email it to me. I'll PM my email address to anyone interested.
As an incentive, you should know that I could use the data to set up high-resolution charts of tidal currents in coastal waters, such as Moreton Bay, which could be useful for racing or cruising. (I could even add in wind fields to see what they would do to the water). I have the technology and know-how, but I spend most of my time employed for paid work, which uses the technology and know-how in a different context. Getting the bathymetry is the first step in the process.
