As I age gracefully I find that my hands are not a callous as before and the back of my hand bruises easily. I sail solo once a week and pick the day based on the wind .
Preferably in the 8 to 15 kn range .Gusting to 20 or so is good. Being a small masthead 20 footer I only use the winch to tighten the luff on the main and play the sheets manually sometimes gripping the headsail sheet continuously with one wrap around the winch. I have for the last four years worn the cheap Whitworths gloves but find ,despite regular washing, the palms of my hands are sore and itch like crazy for a couple of days after. Any recommendations appreciated.

The Phoenix work mitts from Bunnings are great, with good grip and palm padding and they last a long time. Plus they come in XXL to fit old man sausage fingers.

The Trojan ones at Bunnings are pretty good too.
