I'm not in lockdown, but my boat is. Moored in McCarrs Creek the boat is a resident of the upper Northern Beaches and I'm not allowed to visit. She spent Christmas alone and is likely to be alone for some time. I know she feels sad that Dad and Mum can't visit but we'll make up for it as soon as we can. It looks like the anti fouling that happened a few months ago might be going to waste......oh well.

Hey Sam, maybe you could look into becoming foster parents to a boat that is in your area and fostering out your boat

Felling your pain samsturdy. Only just put My boat back in the water a week before xmas. As I am based in Canberra and my boat is in Woodford Bay, I am not allowed to travel up to her. I started stripping the cockpit last November but due to COVID and radiation treatment this year Have only been able to spend a total of about 6 days on her. Hoping sydney gets the all clear sooner than later this year.

Hey Sam,
Do you want me to drop by the boat and tell her she is loved? I'm at Pittwater for a while ...
I'm in my 3rd lock down for this year, having come up from Melbourne when the borders opened in November to get the rigging done. Missed the family Christmas but got to sail today.
Cheers,
Kinora

So, the tv news told me that my boats in lockdown until at least January 9th. I immediately raced to the border of the Northern Beaches where burley coppers held me back while I yelled out her name with outstretched arms. The burley coppers had tears rolling down their faces as they witnessed my anguish, but the pollies rule so I was turned back for home. I'm now confined to my bed in a darkened room, sob.

Wetsuit up.
Minisub set the GPS heading.
Swim out to her on a moonless night and creep in her window while the parents are asleep.

Me too Sam. At one stage I could get to the boat on the Northern Beaches but would not be allowed to come back! But on the plus side I just got HD cameras going for my Trek Transponder and at least I can see what Im missing. Picture is from just now in Elvina Bay. The cam is under the solar panel arch on the stern and is a bit misty due to salt and spray. SO glad I put the tarp on!!! The rain makes the timber on the coach house wet which leaks inside. Hard to fix

Nice one Trek. I'm missing not being able to check out any problems caused by wind/rain etc, not that there ever has been any but, you know Murphy's Law.....something will happen when you can't get to it.

Feeling the pain. My girl is just over the boarder in covid infected NSW while I live in sunny virus free QLD. Around 25 k's apart.

I can still visit but the 1 to 3 hour boarder checkpoint wait to get back into QLD is a turn off.

Thinking it's time to move

I'm pretty sure you're allowed to access the vessel for maintenance but you can't use it. Someone even asked this on marine area command nsw page and they confirmed they could visit the boat moored at clareview from castle hill for maintenance. Maybe the red zone is a complete no go but worth checking.

I've just had a report from a Church Point local that the pontoon at McCarrs Creek Reserve has broken away from it's pylons.

Yes Sam, the pontoon at McCarrs Creek Reserve has been roped off and one of the piers has given way. The pontoon itself is in place but looks very low in the water. No problem using the launching ramp beside it though and if you ignored the signs you could us the pontoon in a pinch.

I also paddled past your yacht this morning and can report she is all ship shape and Bristol fashion. I may be mistaken but I thought she whispered 'I'm missing Sam' as I went by.

Haha, well I've been whispering the same about her. Thanks for the report on the boat Gravy, nice to know someone is on the lookout. So what's with the pontoon, do they need to drive another pylon in or is it not as easy as that.

Happy to be of service. I looked for 'Trek' too but couldn't find her 'cos I was looking in Lovett Bay, not Elvina. Doh!
Yes, at least one new pile required. Might take Northern Beaches Council a while.

If it's anything like Sutherland shire council it will be somewhere in the dreamtime.

Sorry to get your hopes up Sam but I just got a notification from the club that it's been rescinded.

I guess someone REALLY flaunted the rules, or else it was released without getting the proper approvals and has now been shut down...

A contractor from Northern Beaches Council in MV Sirius was on site inspecting the damage at 09:00 this morning.

Northern Beaches - 1, Sutherland Shire - nil.
