Hi All,

Thinking of sailing in the nationals there mid Jan 2021, anyone have any typical wind speed for that time of year there ?
Guessing around 15 -25 knots arvo sea breeze pretty normal , cheers

I live and kiteboard there,
its generally sw to ssw seabreaze 15-25 but can also be a dead calm all day and occasionally light offshore.
prepare for anything.

For Northern Adelaide beaches in Jan it is quite predictable - I would say 80% chance of light sub 10knots till midday - moderate sea breeze SW through the afternoon and southerly at 20-25knots around 5pm till late. This is typically on a flat ocean (minimal swell) and cross onshore to cross shore (windswell) chop - can be a short sharp chop as waters remain shallow ( 20ft) for almost a nautical mile offshore. Racers will favour sailing further offshore in afternoon with chop and more inshore in late morning.

And like most of the Adelaide beaches in a sea breeze, fastest on to the left corner crosses and wins.
If you get a morning race with the land breeze hope you have plenty of height.
and the sea breezes can be very fresh.
And get bigger tyres for your trolley.
