It was a great fun and a lot of pain to handle this boat. Finally I managed to restore it completely and it is gone now. Great experience, learned my lesson. The engine rebuilding process was painful. Many so called "marine experts" around.
I think that Tasman 26 is a solid little boat but I can not hide relief to get rid of it. One big suggestion for everyone who is buying a boat: Make sure that engine is in excellent working order. The rest can be fixed easily (change sails etc) but rebuilt the engine is a mission.

Yep as they say the two best days with a boat are...
Not sure I totally agree with that saying as hopefully there are some near perfect memorable sails but once you decide to sell then completion of the sale is definitely right up there as it is with any expensive item and especially if you have already taken on a second boat.

Hi Serb,
It doesn't mean your Engine Woes are over..
There is always regular maintenance to your engine, rigging and sails. You learn all about your boat and engine.I feel your pain, with engine woes, I have rebuilt my Yanmar 8hp and in the process bought and fitted a used Yanmar 12hp, with the help of a switched on friend...I have also bought another YSB 8,for spare parts, as it's cheaper to buy another complete engine for parts! I agree with, your comment, so called marine experts, my original 8hp had already undergone 2 reconditions for a previous owner, due the fact, the engine was not set up with an anti back flow device and shut off valve in the exhaust line. This was over looked twice, by the same Yanmar dealership!!
With fitting my used larger 12hp, we had to build a new engine support, new timber steps with a 3mm thick x 50mm angle aluminium frame, install a used 40 litre fuel tank in the bilge, all new fuel lines, fitted a new fuel filter on a home made bracket and the same with repositioning the water strainer..Used all stainless bolts and screws. It has been a long process, but I am fortunate to have a very talented mate..
I have learnt owning and maintaining a yacht is an ongoing job, more so than my 5.5m fishing boat on a trailer..
But it's Worth the Effort..
I think Fishermen and Yachties, that Own their boats have a lot of Patience and Resilience!!!
Members on Seabreeze, like the likes of Ramona, etc are fine examples of the above and are always willing to give sound advice !!
It has certainly been a great benefit to be a member!
Also, a Thank you to Julemotto for adding his thoughts and passing on his knowledge.
I also disagree with the saying the best day of boat ownership is the day you buy and the day you sell.Lol
Nothing beats getting on the water and sailing to new destinations..!!!
Happy Sailing
Cheers, Michael.

Woow, you had some fun tooo. we are learning every day mate. Yes, current engine will need maintenance for sure and I really really hope that I will never ever need to remove the engine out of the boat and fix it back in. It was a hell of a job. OMG!
