Hi All,
Looking at wanting to do some DIY on my boat including installing a furler and some topside paintwork.
The mast on my boat is able to be lowered but need some jetty or pontoon space to facilitate instal.
Just wondering if anyone knows a location that is happy for you to work on your boat whilst alongside.
Not wanting to take boat out of water.

Thanks in advance.

Some marinas have a work berth you can "hire" , or your slipway may have a work berth where you can use the facilities for a reasonable fee. I have had success with using the local jetty during the week as long as you don't block it for other users . Talk to your local enforcement first. What area are you in

Is it a keel-stepped mast or cabin-top mast (mounted on the cabin top with a separate compression post in the cabin)? If it is a cabin-top mast, you might be able to find a berth or jetty somewhere where you could do a quick down-an-up. I saw this at Manly, QLD, at the finger-jetty adjacent to the ramp. I think it was low tide, and the owner simply dropped the mast onto the railings by the quay wall. Not sure if this was officially sanctioned, but it didn't seem to inconvenience anyone. If it is keel-stepped, you'll need a crane.

How feasible would it be to raise a mast or two at the local jetty?..........

Sounds like a "get everything completely ready pull up to your chosen jetty at 9;00 PM" job.
Fire up a (quiet) portable genny for some lights and get the job done as fast as you can.

A location might help.
I know there are a few public jetties around Brisbane Water, Gosford area that can be used.
The one at Woywoy used to have power too.

You will notice a certain boat near yours missing a mast ( not mine) one guess where we dropped it . ??

I do hope you didn't abandon the stick there........

I did notice, one day when I spent a couple of hours onboard performing varied maintenance feats I heard the stick used to hold up the bird netting flopping around.
