So if at anchor and a severe weather warning is issued, you have no cover moving to a safer anchorage.
Going to be problematic is some places.

Thanks for that. Pantaenius insurance would be a bit of a waste of time 50% of the time for my yacht on my mooring. They get full marks for honesty though.

if you read the fine print for pentanius you are not covered unless 2 people are on deck at all times seems a bit impractical for the average cruising boat

And. I've mentioned this before in other threads. Pants, also doesn't allow solo sailing between sunset and sunrise. This has to be the worst insurance product out there. What next, no coverage if the wind is blowing?

I was with them for years and they covered everything I did including Lord Howe 3 times. It looks like they are removing some risks from their policies by making skippers more accountable.
However, it seems reasonable to me that if you depart a safe harbour when there is a Severe Weather Warning or Severe Thunderstorm Warning then you are taking the risks on to yourself and the insurance company is not accountable. They still cover you if you get caught out on passage.
Same if you are at anchor and leave the boat unattended in those circumstances. I note it is at anchor not on a mooring.
I am sometimes surprised at how people leave their boats unattended while at anchor, often in circumstances that I wouldn't.

They are not covering boats on moorings in extreme conditions either!

I think the Australian insurance companies have had a hard time in the last two years and I suspect we are the ones that will suffer.

Insurance is one thing and if on a swing mooring in NSW the wording for a suitable mooring by RMS is impossible to meet.
So if your mooring is not suitable how does that affect your Insurance??
