Now looking for an inflatable dinghy that rows well, tows well, is light and can properly accommodate 2 people plus of course stands up to UV reasonably and can accommodate my 3.3 Mercury if necessary upon occasion. The welds or glue need to be durable enough so that the rowlocks don't pull out. 2.3-2.5m
Prices seem to have gone up considerably over the last 12 to 18 months. I'm presuming that Highfield is the Rolls-Royce giving longevity and light weight although they seem to cost an arm and a leg. Having had a ply slat floor I am now interested in an air deck which I presume is superior as it also gives a bit of a V to the underside and less weight. Any recommendations?
I have a Sirocco 2.3m, flat slat base. Light weight 16 kg and comes with a carry bag, cover, oars and foot pump.
Very good quality and reasonably priced.
Solid welds and the row locks are durable and well designed. Strong reinforced plastic transom. Ideal size for your 3.3 hp.
38 South Boats are the agents in Adelaide, Sydney and Gold Coast. I have been very happy with it. Lots of information on the website, check them out.
Cheers
Have a look at the Mercury 2.4 inflatable dinghy.
Not an air deck but the inflatable floor is pretty solid - surprisingly so. It has a keel giving it a V profile. Welded seams. Approx 20 to 22 KG. (Btw an air deck adds a huge amount of weight).
Thanks guys. I got a p.m. from a member who no longer uses his which wasn't very old and it fits the bill nicely :-)
