Hey all I was wondering if anyone had dimensions of the centreboard swing keel on a hood 23
... or even a birds eye photo of it on the ground. Working on one to sell for a mate but the last owner had it parked on a mud bar with the keel down and lost it while delivering it to my mate.
Any help would be much appreciated ![]()

You have probably seen these 3 links; the 3rd file has a side elevation dwg including the centreboard. A reasonably accurate drawing should be able to be made scaled off it - scale the whole dwg based on hull LOA then get the centreboard perimeter geometry. Correlate to the stub keel slot opening geometry in the 3 directions to ensure clearances and that it will slot in ok and raise ok. Mind you the dwg in the 3rd link is ambiguous at the centreboard bottom edge and stub keel aft slot end - if the stub keel slot ends at the dotted line the board won't be able to rotate up into it.
Obviously that leaves the centreboard cross section to work out. With a board of that sort of perimeter shape (and also the fact that the shoal draft version has a decent depth and length stub keel to start with) I would guess that the cross section is nothing too fancy - but I don't know for certain having never seen one. It is probably simply a steel plate with rounded nose of radius 1/2 the centreboard thickness, and a v taper on the trailing edge around 3:1 or a bit more. As above measure the board slot opening in the stub keel and that will guide the plate thickness, also allowing for corrosion protection coatings and antifoul if that is the plan. The lifting wire system and securing pin design including material will also be shown by the existing stub keel arrangement.

This link at a certain site mentions a lead centreboard - I would be very dubious about that but again don't know for certain. The ballast in the shoal draft design is surely mainly in the stub keel.
