Does anyone know about the history or background of the WA built Custom 30s in 1980s? Grateful for any info or stories.

Designed by West Australian Ray Ebutt and built by Sapphire Plastics. Length 31 ft, Beam 8ft 1.5", draft 5ft. They started building them in the 70's as either basic hull, semi finished or finished yacht

Ilenart's nailed it, although I thought it was a 30? The Custom 30 JB won the half ton nationals about '75, beating East Coasts, S&S Defiances, etc. I sailed with one of the crew and he said it was actually a slow boat - but he was a bit of a BS artist, and it can't have been that slow if it won!
