So my Northshore 33's bottom needs some work..

The steel keel is rusting / not sealed properly so i suspect a haulout, strip back? and a re-seal of the keel and whilst out a decent bring back of the antifoul layers and a new set up of prime>under>antifoul.

I am down on the Hacking.

MarinaBayside / nee-Lewis anchorage do not do yachts at moment due to depth issues.

i assume this will be a decent $ job...

...any experience or suggestions on where i might start to get this done beyond the local slipways..?

See here; based on our experiences you will get top quality workmanship and results for all the tasks you have mentioned plus any more that may be needed - go through all the tasks you want done with Tim - and at a fair price. Kogarah Bay - many yachts from the Hacking come up to this full service slipway.

Maybe you could report back here how satisfied you are if you do get the full soda blast of the keel and reseal done because I wouldn't mind doing it to mine although I have also heard it said that it's a waste of time unless the weather is just perfect presumably with no humidity and you get primer on the second you finish exposing metal.
Would be very expensive as of course all the nice fillet or fairing between the keel and the hull would probably have to be removed to get at the top of the keel and then redone. Once you go that far maybe someone should have a darn good look at the keel bolts. Where do you stop?

Maybe someone knowledgable would like to comment on this procedure.

Saw it being done to a Beneteau at Quays Marina Church Point just over a year ago and as I was waiting a while for someone I watched the foreman tell the guy grinding that the job was not good enough yet and to keep going which kind of impressed me. Not sure if you are supposed to grind however as that may introduce grit imperfections into the cast iron.

Yep i have researched a fair bit on the varying levels of success....some take the path of just recoating every year..

Bolts were replaced in 2019, but i do not now what else was 'done' as it was previous owner.

I will take a drive to Endeavour next week, thanks for the tip r13 and Jules..

Also (and i will measure) my DWL to mast tip is supposed to be 13.4m....i think this will fit under capt. cook bridge, only been in/out there in my old Contessa

+1 for Endeavor Boatshed, I've had work done there and it was always quality work at very reasonable prices. You should be fine under the bridge - I was moored right in front of them, and I just had clearance taking my (at the time) 41' Oceanis in and out under the bridge at low or near low tide.

I believe that the bridge clearance is 16.6m at HWS

Thanks for that Navionics confused me with some close to 13m numbers. I will speak to Tim next week and come up with a plan and see what the damage might be.

See prior post here on 16.6m as per UBob
