I'm thinking of cutting down a polystyrene fruit box as a tight fitting extra insulation for my 12volt cooler.
Can i successfully glue it back together ?.

Sam, I went through this thought process a while ago, my conclusion was to go down to BCF and buy a 10mm foam camping mattress, cut it to pieces that fitted snugly in the supplied cooler cover, allowing of course for the coolers vents, and then zip it up into place. Has made a definite difference.

PU glue. Make sure you clamp or tape it in place.

I would not use a poly box. I would recommend you find an insulation place and purchase some extruded polystyrene. Also you can overlap the joins so you have no thermal bridges. They can sell you some glue.

Thanks everybody. Not certain what I'll do yet. My cooler has all the works in the lid so there's no vents in the body.
I'm sure the extra insulation will make a difference. I'll mull over the advice and decide a plan of attack.
Thanks all.

Sam, I'm guessing that the cooler is a peltier device if it has all the works in the lid, so be aware that they are not particularly efficient, however extra insulation will definitely improve things.

Thanks Bob, it's not a serious contender as a ships refrigeration system but it works OK for me. I just want to help it along a bit on really hot days.
