I think this topic was discussed here some time ago.

Probably only pertinent to those in Sydney using the Western Harbour/Parramatta River, but......
The application to develop and expand the GB Marina has been unanimously rejected!!

Yay!, About bl**dy time!!
Good on the Planning Panel for making the only (IMO) sensible decision, and not bowing to the dollars signs.

As an update, as of 6/6/22 this case in the Land and Environment Court has been reserved, after further written submissions from the parties and the 12-13 and 16-18 May 2022 hearings.

I well realise that there are varying opinions on this forum on this specific matter of the Gladesville Bridge Marina expansion.

Imho Sydney Harbour must be retained as a "working port" and the numerous defence bases and cruise liner terminals (in the east and west harbour) attest to this edict. It is trusted that these will remain.

Likewise the east and (more particularly as associated with this matter) west harbour waters imho must be retained as "readily navigable sailing waters for cruising and racing yachts" and hence suitably free of excessive and totally unnecessary marina expansion enchroachment of such navigable sailing waters. Which is what the GBM expansion clearly is, as also influenced by the Gladesville Bridge arch height clearance. As I pointed out in my submission there is a very shallow rock shelf on the Huntleys Point side of the Gladeville Bridge which extends out way further than most people realise - the GBM expansion plan hence encroaches far more on the navigable water channel under the bridge for yachts than a road map plan view would indicate, inherently impacted by the bridge clearance on the Huntleys Point side and the rock shelf there.

If I remember correctly, at some stage this marina 'commandeered' some of the adjacent public parkland for an access road and the expansion plan was going to grab more of the public parkland for further access and parking...bugger off and leave our public lands around the harbour alone.
