Hi all,
I am wondering whether my fixed keel Spacesailer 24 will cruise under the Garden Island bridges with good clearance. I've always sailed past it to the west assuming that it wouldn't be possible to cross, but it would shave a fair bit of time to head under it.
We calculated the total height of masthead from waterline to be 10.75m conservatively (allowing 0.3m from the bottom of masthead block to the top of windvane.
I see that DoT has the clearance of the bridge at 11.9m in HAT.
Would anyone be able to speak from experience on this, or have any tips to making this under bridge crossing?
Is it the sort of crossing where you would sit and wait for a lull in the swell?
Much appreciated
So most days you have almost 14.0m at low tide.
Sounds pretty simple to me.
Of course you could do then tide calculation yourself.
