Tigers,
Let me know how you went with this. A friend of friend applied this product on his prop and after 18 months prop still sexy. What a money saver!
hope it works for all of you. Bloody 300 bucks for prop speed..

Thanks Serb, that's good to know and real money saver for you guys on the East Coast. You guys are certainly charged more for basic Shipwright services.
I'm in Adelaide and the last time I paid for prop speed was $100, product and application.
Cheers

Fantastic if it works. Big difference in price between propspeed
Maybe I'm part of the problem, but I'm skeptical. Too often it's cost me more in the long run by going cheap. Serb, i'll be keen to hear your personal experience with it ![]()
Sorry Serb, that stuff was absolutely rubbish for me, it didn't last more than a month or two. PropSpeed is king, I just hauled out and it's still great after 12months. I expect I'll easily get another 12 months or more.
If it's really that good, you'd have wonder why Propspeed is still in business. Hard to believe boat owners en masse could be so dumb.

ABC 3
Prop Speed
Light pressure wash and very light scrape to get shell of (I didnt touch the boots as didnt want to damage them)
After 8 months in water i was very happy with how good it looked.
The surveyer and new owner were both happy aswell.

Last photo as boat was getting lift out, before wash down.
IMHO, You get what you pay for.

Do you use Propspeed as an antifoul on your twin hulls?

But how you managed to get it done for 100 bucks?

****.., well good to know that we are all keep trying . My prop is still nice and yellow but it has a small barnacle on it. I am planing to remove the barnacle off and maybe spray some clear on it or even this failure which I have proposed. I would be a very happy man if I could make it two years out of antifouling and prop speed but yearly it just too much when you add rego, mooring fees etc. expenses never stop on the boat.
I am planing to apply International micron extra 2 (4 good Coates) let's hope it will last two years. I realised that many of you are using Altex 5 and I am wondering if Gladesville Bridge Marina has some sort of cheap version of it because it is clear that my rudder and my boat on the sunny (port) sides are all white after 9 months.
I only pay $100 for Propspeed too but do the prep work myself. Just hit up the shipwrights at the yard and see what they'll charge. Almost 18 months for me and still going well.

I do the prep work and the shipwright at the club applys it.. I would say its gone up from last time, like everything at the moment.

So you have sold your Nautitech that you had on lake Mac? Any plans for a new boat?
Yes sold at Airlie at the end of my 4 month trip up north.
The plan is ill think about getting a cat when i can retire and be full time liveaboart, but not set in concrete
I am trying this stuff this time - no need to pay someone to apply it!!

Last time I used something similar, can't remember the name, & the prop was still in excellent condition after 2 years.
I hope I get the same milage this time.

I went with Altex5 again because the hull was in pretty good shape after 2 years with no maintenance whatsoever - been too cold!!

Thanks buddy for you tip. I got the kit. It will be more than enough for my prop, so planing to remove the zink anode from the shaft and apply it all over there shaft and the prop (prop is only 11x10.5 3 blades) and put a new anode as soon is dry. does this sounds ok?

If you insulate the anode from the shaft with paint there will be no point having the anode on the shaft. Anodes need an electrical connection to be effective. Basic.

Of course, will leave the space for a new anode while painting the shaft. Thanks.

Paint under an anode or over an anode is one of the biggest No No's on a boat.

Mate, tape up the shaft where you intend to put the anode, paint, remove tape when dry and install anode. ![]()

Thanks Lazzz and Serb never heard of PropOne but it looks good - Serb please let us know your experiences with it as I will be slipping early-mid next year and plan to use this.
I have used both, and there really isn't a comparison... PropOne barely lasted to the next lift out. Prop Speed lasts amazingly well - hence the price premium?
