I'm looking for advice from the SB resin experts. Flowcoat from my local mob is about 17 bucks for 250 ml, whilst resin plus tinting paste works out at a fraction of that price. I've tried a couple of test patches and they both come up very well.

Are there any disadvantages with the resin/paste?

Cheers, Graeme

Wow $68 per litre for flowcoat! Bit pricey! Have you checked prices elsewhere?
Benefit of flowcoat is consistency without stress of measuring.

Not quite. That's actually $16:95 for a 250ml tin. If you bought a 4L tin from Whitworths, it would cost about $110, or $27:50 per litre. Depends how much you need.

(PS I have no connection to Whitworths, and if you find a better price elsewhere, all power to you)

I can't comment specifically on the OP question about Flowcoat vs Tinted Resin, but my experience so far with paints, finishes, seals etc is that it never pays to go cheap.

Flowcoat can't be recoated?? You can turn Gelcoat into Flowcoat?? Resin and also have wax added???

All interesting stuff
