That was my first thought as well. Perhaps it makes for more interesting viewing if their is a drama unfolding.

Big Fanboy of Eriks & as a soloist with almost the same setup I learn so much from this guy. I really love how he frames his approach, but more importantly his attitude. Not sure why he always bangs on about no plan B though, I rarely have Plan A occur without a hitch & especially when I get water in the boat or have to be attached to the helm my brain just kicks into focusing on the now and planning the how.

Perhaps a thread on how we have overcome ****ty obstacles would be informative - mine from last Sunday - 25knots with 2 reeves entering tight outer harbor with big container ship having to do a tight turn directly ahead. I drop jib; start motor and try to stall upwind...when holy ships an errant spinnaker line fouls prop. Yikes... bring out jib & beat directly upwind and into 2m seas. Plan B - sail to safe inner harbor 3km away - drop sails & anchor & cut lines & hope no gearbox damage. Plan C roll out tender attach motor fix to sugar scoop hope 6hp enough to steady in 25knots. Yup, living the dream of stuff ups and Plans B C D

Just an empire that has come and gone just like so many...saxons, vikings normans...it is only from the perspective of a briton that would see them as a negative. For anyone from either heritage would perhaps see it as a golden age...just as the british empire was up until the 2nd world war.

I think it would be a lot of fun being there at the festival. Good on them for holding onto their traditions and heritage.

As for plan B I think it is probably that Erik has a destination and no matter what the ocean throws at him, he will try to get there. Would love to sail to these islands. Looks pretty cold though.
