Radio was on. Wonder if it was a VHF with MMSI code.

Engine trouble apparently, camped ashore, hitch-hiked then caught a train to Melbourne.

But why not use sails? Or anchor?
Waste of a good yacht.

He sounds pretty lucky. We have been going on an annual holiday to Tamboon since I was about three. Family friends have a house there and used to have a bush hut near the beach before parks took the land back.
That stretch of ocean can be very rough with a few sections of rocks (the wizards pool) between point hicks and Tamboon inlet. And Tamboon inlet is no inlet for a boat (flipped a rubber Duckie coming in when I was a teenager). Some family friends got sucked out the inlet into the wild surf when they were prawning when the inlet opened (it is often closed) and sadly all but one perished.
