Capt. Mark Sinclair left the RSAYS this morning on Coconut in his attempt to complete his circumnavigation in the 2018 Golden Globe race. If he completes this second leg to France non stop, he will be first in "Chichester" Class, as even though he has stopped in Adelaide for 3 years he can still finish, having made only one stop.
We are watching him in the Gulf at the moment from our back yard, an emotional sight to see him off on his way again.

Now that's clever! He is going to France anyway to prepare for the next Golden Globe race. Probably does not have to do the qualifying sail because he is a previous entry and he has the chance of taking out the Chichester trophy!
Yes, he plans to compete in the 2022 Golden Globe again. He ran out of water and had a bad build up of marine growth on the hull, which is why he stopped in his home port of Adelaide. No one in the 2018 race made a stop, so he will be first in the "one stop" Chichester Class. He had a special copper coat done as per the photo, so he is hoping this will slow the fouling. Also, he left his teapot in a locker there and needs to go and collect it :)
Capt. Coconut is due to complete his circumnavigation this Friday after an eventful voyage. He has just encountered a force 9 storm off the coast of Spain which caused substantial damage to his gear. His arrival in France will be streamed live on FB #GGR2022
His eta is for Friday 27 May at 1000hrs local (France) time
