Currently on the waiting list for a mooring in Forster but have found a boat I'm interested in so may need a mooring soon, does anyone know if Camden Haven poles are the moorings next to the Laurieton fish co-op and what is it like there to moor your boat?
No, if your referring to the RMS "Camden Haven Poles" are in North Haven, they are basically just old wharf poles close to the shore. Usually have fishing boats on them (theres only 3 or 4), I doubt you'd find any are available.
The Laurieton Fish Co-op is just like a little marina, there might be a berth available at the moment, but only 1 if any.
Disregard what I said above. Didn't think one of those would be available that I was thinking of above, last new licence granted in 2016.
I think I know where you mean now, they are poles on the river bank in Dunbogan, never seen a keeled boat on them long term.
They probably have strict vessel criteria that has to be met for those ones. There a bit rough, last resort option I'd say.
Spoke to Maritime today, pole moorings at Dunbogan but you need to install the poles, so no good for a temporary solution but have heard that there will be movement soon at Forster where I'm on the waiting list so may workout ok.Thanks for the reply BlueMoon
Dunbogan is very open too the north east wind and gets the southerly as well. Anything near the co op is very protected in comparison and a easy walk to shops .
Foster is awesome but much busier.
