Like most boats ,mine runs on compromises, it looks like I have been gifted a 70 litre Eutectic auto fridge that has been extensively upgraded to survive the rigorous treatment that my parents have given it in 20 years of continuous grey nomad travelling, they have finally decided to only travel for 3 months a year instead of all of it. It is now only a freezer designed to go to minus 25 , it does not go above minus 3. Now the big question, Is it feasible to transfer my trusty bushman fridge to my camper and and put the freezer in it's place ,using the freezer to freeze drink bottles to use in the built in ice box. I currently use the ice box for dry storage . It is quite well insulated , or is the amount of energy needed to make the ice more than what it would be to run the freezer and fridge . I'm hoping some one already does this and can answer easily ,or am I just being greedy in trying to get a freezer and fridge in a small boat , Rum and coke without ice is not the same.

Hey, I would guess that it would work fine, use square shaped bottles to minimise wasted space, you are effectively using the icebox like a eutectic fridge and you still can make cubes for for the rum and coke.
Just get it done before the mast refurb, I will be available to assess the quality of both at short notice.

Did you notice I washed her down two weeks ago......the seagulls were complaining about getting dirty feet. Left another tin of cat food on the boat next door to keep them away for a while.

So I can apportion blame your way for the gull encrusted solar panels then.

Hi, just had a thought (no it wasn't painful), would it be possible to replace the thermostat with a digital one that allowed you to use it as a fridge, yes I realise that the rum and coke would suffer but hey, probably more practical.
