No, it's not a spelling mistake ...
My pen berth has 2 wooden piles at the entrance. Kinora has a pronounced tumble-home so the hull sides sometimes rub against the piles when reversing into the pen (the strong prop walk to port makes it difficult to nail the landing every time, especially single-handed). This is leaving scuff marks on the hull.
Does anyone have suggestions for a material that I can wrap around the piles to prevent the scuffing? I was thinking about some sort of closed-cell foam.
BTW, the berth is in the Gippsland Lakes so the tidal range is small.

It depends on the shape of the piles/posts you rub against.

otherwise very careful steering when entering, but I know that's not always possible in winds. You could hang these flat fenders (or camping mat) from your yacht too, then store them afterwards.
When I had a berth near the launching ramps, I would get the nose into the berth, then I might pick up the 2 forward ropes (attached to the land/front) to pull myself in with the boat hook. Depends on your steering, wind/currents, and how long Kinora is.
We can catch up in 2 weeks' time.
Something like this would be ideal; cut in 1/2 and have 2 off 0.9m lengths which is probably more than ample. Secure with 316 ss coach screws and 316 oversize washers the largest you can get. Might be an idea to put more holes and coach screws in to secure better.

Hi Phil, thanks for the suggestions. I looked at the mats from Whitworths, not sure how well they'd bend around the pile but it is one of the possibilities.
Just got back from 10 days on Kinora sailing up and down the lakes. Had some cracking days and finally replaced the anchor chain and rode so the Muir winch now works. Text or PM me, I have to get back again soon after the recent rain.

Thanks for the suggestions. I looked at the black dock bumpers and wondered about leaving black marks on the hull. Your idea to glue white canvas over the top is great and I'm inclined to go down this path for ease of mounting and looks. The Dan multi-function fenders have 2 rows of mounting screws and might not like being attached to a curved surface but the dock edge ones would at greater cost.

Brilliant! We have several sets in the garage from the boys progression from Under 7s to Seniors. I'll take a pair down next time I go as an immediate fix. Then, if the dock owner complains about the aesthetics, I'll use the bumpers.
