Hello,

I would like to ask the sailing community and more experienced folk their thoughts on a 1993 Beale Sloop 40ft. Any input of pros and cons of this vessel greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Assume you are talking about Anna.

In my opinion Beale was a really genuine "always feet on the ground" designer and his yachts all seemed wholesome, with good waterline length and proportions including sterns not too wide but not too pintailed so they were good reaching and running without suffering much upwind.

In the smaller range some cabins seemed bulky but that's a result of trying to get useful accommodation into the equation.

For Anna not sure why he truncated the cabin aft of the mast hence presumably losing a bit of headroom into the fore cabin - obviously no big deal. Also the sail drive can polarise ...........if the maintenance is kept up to it including bladder renewal it should be ok? Does it have a double bladder and alarm if the outer one fails? Some sail drive oems have 7 years as bladder renewal - and this would have a bit of margin in it. Suggest you ask the seller how the sail drive and bladder have gone since they owned it, what has been renewed etc, what the diesel operational and service schedule has been, what the diesel running hours are, is the sail drive and propeller original 1993 or newer, if so how much newer and what are the running hours of both? All this not a show stopper just due diligence.

2019 new standing rigging a big plus.

Believe this yacht will sell reasonably quickly. I have nothing to do with the seller.
