Never been much of a racer, but these round the world boats are pretty exciting.

Amazing!!!
But it would sure suck to go round the world and be half the time under water. Couldn't they design some way to stop that much water coming up over the bow?

It's sure a far cry from the days of the 80' Whitbread maxi yachts with complete galleys, dining tables and full time cooks.

I haven't followed this sort of racing for quit some time. I am intrigued by the advent of the long deck level spreaders.

Hi Shifu,
I think they're reaching struts, used to get the sheeting angle for wind abeam/aft the mast style sailing.
They probably don't hurt , but the rig doesn't need them to stay up.
Edit: no, I'm wrong. Aren't these new things a cf rotating mast?
Sorry Shifu, they could be outriggers methinks.

Thanks HG!
I spent half a day on a 30 in the bay of Biscay. That was a great boat to sail, and it's true its fast, it's not that much slower than the 12.50.
The twin rudders offer sublime feel, compared to the wheels on mine, has the same sittting on the chine stability feel as mine..sigh...
I really liked that boat. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

It is still a 30 though, even though it's roomy .

Here's another one Shifu, Banque Populaire out testing.
They really seem to be getting the hang of those foils.
