If it's the original owners relaunching after a long hard think and are committed to improving their customer service, then power to them.

If someone has taken the name over, then ballsy move. Way too much negative sentiment over all forms of social media.

Hi Team

This is a response to an email I sent them the other day.
They have a lot of work to do in undoing the poor form of the previous owners.
I wished them well in the new venture.

Cheers

to me

HI Scott

We Hear You
Regrettably, yours is not the only negative response about the former Arnold's business, which passed into the hands of an administrator and subsequently, a liquidator.
As a consortium of experienced marine retailers, we purchased the unsold stock and online presence from the liquidator of the business, Worrells Solvency & Forensic Accountants. Worrells, who were appointed liquidators on May 21, 2021, previously had been appointed administrator of Nold Trading Pty Ltd (the operator of Arnold's Boat Shop).
In terms of the unsold stock that we purchased from the liquidator, we're totally committed to providing better warehousing, ordering, communication, sales and distribution systems for marine and recreational products.
None of us have any previous connection or relationship whatsoever with the previous Arnold's business. (It may assist you to know that people who have any queries about products previously ordered or purchased through Nold Trading, could contact Andrew Blundell at Worrells via email: noldtrading@worrells.net.au).
However, if we can help you with your future needs, please give us a try. You can reach us via the www.arnoldsboatshop.com.au web site, but again I assure you, we are a totally different enterprise with a totally different way of fully meeting the expectations of our customers.

Maybe buying from the Administrators/Liquidators, they didn't pay too much for Goodwill? But the old business had a name and people remember the name and what type of business it was, and it filled an economic niche. So they can build on the established brand and market, and they get a discount on the Goodwill to make it attractive; perhaps the new owners consider that to be far easier and sure than starting a new business from scratch.

nah, not for me.
Sorry, but why wouldnt you buy the stock and begin on a totally clean slate, rather than begin behind the 8 ball?

Goodwill is worth bugger all when it has a sour taste.
Maybe our experiences were just bad luck??

Swimming pool companies used to do this on an annual or biannual basis to avoid warranties. They seemed to think it pays and I guess if you remember that your father had a pool built by Freedom Pools or whatever you might think must be good coz they have been in business for ages. In those cases however the same crooks just liquidated one company and started another with the same name and different ABN. They even had the hide to use advertising phrases like "Serving the industry for 25 years" or whatever despite the fact that there were 15 different companies with the same name with 14 now untouchable in liquidation. I reckon it should be illegal to use a name that has gone into liquidation as a new company name on the same type of business for at least 15 years. I guess it just shows how silly people are. Caveat emptor!
Anyway the more competition in the shipchandlery arena the better and it sounds like this might be a genuine new company.

Search engine ranking and indexing is probably the only value they get out of this business. The business has been around for a few years and will rank much higher than a new business.
I tried contacting Arnolds asking if they would be interested in selling the business after I had a couple of negative experiences, it was clear that whoever was managing it was struggling but the business had potential. In this case the Google ranking would have been of good value, a massive head start compared to a new business.

Sydney used car yards do this. Every 6 months they change the company structure so try to get your warranty covered when the company has gone out the back door.
